Our 1st Singapore Flag-Happy Birthday Singapore!

We bought our 1st Singapore Flag to hang outside our new house, as we celebrates Singapore's 41st Birthday! Well, I am not tt patriotic but I am defnitely rooted to the grounds of my homecountry, and love my home!

Yesterday was NDP preview and we can see fireworks from the side of our flat! I quickly try my best to snap the momentous brilliant sparks as fast as I could. So on the actual day, we will be able to see the fireworks at near view again! haha...

Our set of curtains have arrived on Saturday evening, consisting of a set of Day-and-Night curtains for the living room, 4 sets of Roman Blinds for all the rooms. Quite cosy colors as well, in order to match our theme. Finally we can block the morning sun to enjoy our beauty sleep liao..Hiak hiak hiak..

My dear brother juz had a girlfrien, and coincidentally, she is attending the church juz right behind my house! so naturally I invited her over to see her for the first time. Well...she's kinda cute & nice girl, thou she is quite "ang-moh" pai, haha..and I kept teasin my brother that he's more "Chi-na"pai so they dun match leh! Haha... Well, they are quite a cute pair of couple thou.

1-Day-Mum

Yesterday I just become a 1-Day-Mum...Another dream that I always like to realise...Well, I was helpin my sis-in-law to babysit my little niece while both of her parents were busy working on a Saturday. The little Dawn is more attached to females than males, so naturally after my MIL went to work, I took charge! Haha...

Overall, I feel very satisfactory taking care of her, from wiping her body after bathin, from making milk for her, singing "Twinkle Twinkle Little Stars" in the public (with actions somemore!), to taking her little hands shopping @ Thomson Plaza, to feeding her Dim Sum, and even to hugging and carryin her when she wants me to... She is just so curious about everythin! She walks about, touching almost every little thing she saw, & even smiling & greeting ppl with friendliness...How can anyone not loves her?

Ppl mistaken me as her MUM! haha...But its a wonderful mistake, I just kept quiet...

It feels so nice being attached to, and feel so close to such a sweet little darling...
(Tell u all a secret. Both my hubby & FIL are SO irritated that they cant get close to Dawn as she is always making noises when they touch her, and jealous that I can be so CLOSE to her! hahahahaha...)

Housewarming Party 3 - With My Hubby's whole family

Today we prepared a simple home-cooked dinner as a housewarming dinner for my hubby's brother, his wife & the little baby Dawn and not forgetting my parents-in-laws lah. Thou it was the usual dinner that we all have every bi-weekly Sunday, but this time is different. This time WE are the cook (cum the host)! Well, we had a rushy Sunday, starting with marketing @ Tekka market (which we did the same on yesterday morning), then rushing back to prepare the soup for tonight's dinner, then rushing off to Sattine* to view our wedding photos, then rushin back to United Square cuz Dear needs to cut his messy hair, then rushing back home to cook (Cuz the guests have arrived, but the hosts have not! Oh my god! So ganjiong!!!!)

Thank goodness, despite all the arguments we both had in the kitchen (again, yes, cooking together is not easy, but luckily in the end, while washin, we give each other a kiss on the lips ) Sorry for being so hot-tempered towards u, Dear...I m sorry..I was too anxious and panicky liao...

My brother and sis-in-law gave us a nice set of High Quality bedsheet (WOW, we have so many nice bedsheets leh!) , a card consisting of warm wishes & Dawn's handwriting! & also a token of Ang Pow. Thank u very much for the gifts!

We bought a simple play toy for Dawn and see the pictures of her enjoying the drawing! i simply love her so much, little darling...

* The wedding photos were quite nice (Thank goodness! Phew!) And i really like a few of them. Dear kept choosing focusing on me, say this one u nice, that one I like, etc.. Hahaha... In the end, we top up $640 for 2 pages, extra 10 poses & all the samples & negatives returned. This is within our budget at least. The collection will only be on early Oct, so all of us have to keep waiting till the final results are out ok? I can't wait also..hee...*

Happy Birthday To Me - Dinner with Badminton Pals

This year's Birthday dinner with the Badminton Pal was abit quiet, as both Teris (far far away in Holland) & Ah Bao (busy working) were not present. That's left me, Huijing & Wanling, enjoying a interactive & enjoyable dinner @ Sakae Sushi

The first present from them was a slow cooker that I've requested, but was delivered in Surprise! Huijing & Ziqin secretly coordinated with my hubby to come by our house to pass me the gift on a Sunday, but my silly hubby totally forgotten it! I was very very curious and keep pestering him to tell me why is MY friend calling & smsing him on a Sunday morning??!?!? haha...Then the truth revealed... They wanted to surprise me! Hahaha.. But it was nice having them as our official 1st guest thou we were blur blur in the morning, and were busy making breakfast. We treated them my 1st Sunny-Side up, and it was prettily done lor! hahah...dun underestimate me hor...

The 2nd gift was presented to me during the Sakae dinner, and it was related to the 1st gift, cuz its a Recipe Book for Soups! well...hinting hinting me to cook soup for them when they visit me next time. Ok no problem! Let me practise more first

Thanks for the presents and of cuz, the endless friendship that we are sharing with one another...

Housewarming Party 2 - With Dear's Friends

Another week has passed, and it was the 2nd housewarming party that we are holding, and this is for Dear's friends.

This time round we are able to prepare a simply home-cooked dinner of:
1) Fried Rice
2) Fried Japanese Chicken
3) Stir-fried veggie
4) Rosti with Bacon Bits

Thou the preparation and the cooking part was filled with arguments, and sweating, it was all worth it as they all liked our food! Well, the cleaning part was also quite torturous! Luckily both of us helped each other out.

The friends were nice to bring gifts for us, consisting of Aussino High quality Bedsheet (Rachel & Marcus) & a pair of nice crystal earrings from Chomel which I can match my wedding gown. Zhiwei gave us a pair of cute Winnie The Pooh mugs, whereas Kuanwei brought along a bottle of Ice Wine for the dinner.

It was fun chatting and laughing along as it was quite a few months back that we catch up with one another.

Do drop by often when you guys are free k? Our doors are always opened...

My Dream Wedding Car...

My dream wedding car...given as my ROM gift by my sisters (Tanlin, Suling, Meiyan & Sharon)...A Beetle Cabriolet!! A bright Red color one somemore! And the car plate number will be auspiscious too! Its 9988 (久久发发) as said by Sharon! Hhahaa... Its not tt cheap, but most of the wedding cars (especially special types) will cost around that range. If anyone is interested, can refer to its webbie
- Fun Cars Auto (Look for Titan; he's quite a friendly guy)

I will definitely take more photos with the lovely Car (than with my hubby) on the actual day! haha...

Once again, A big Thank U Girls!!

Housewarming Party 1 - With the Sisters

It was a belated Birthday gathering -cum- housewarming gathering @ my new house on last Sunday with my sisters & their partners. Though it was a "bad" idea to invite them over on a Sunday as all of you should know how crowded Little India is on a Sunday!! Well, they were all very sporting and everyone turned up upon invitation! (except for Suling's bf who has to work lah) Thanks Girls & Boys for being so sporting! :- )

It was a simple dinner of Pizza & homemade salad as we were nt prepared enough to start cooking for them. Dun worry, girls, next time we should be able to cook for u all liao!

The birthday gifts that they have given me includes love, efforts, money (of cuz) and lots of pleasure! The most efforts-taking gift is the compilation of love songs for my wedding use (I attribute this award to Ms Tanlin & Ms Suling for doing all the endless searching and compilation), a pair of Wedding Hippos containing our names (To be put @ our Reception Table), & a Ang Pow to finance my costs of spending SO much for my house! haha... Really appreciate all 4 of ur time & efforts. Not to forget another wonderful gift that they have given me (To be mentioned in another blog entry..hee..cuz its VERY special...)

It was a warm & joyous gathering as we spend time in our Love Nest...Really something special...

Finally I can blog in my new house!!

A few weeks have passed since I moved into my new house, and with no Internet Access, and busy tidyin up my new house, I practically cant blog or even check email! So finally I can have some private time to do that today!

Shall do more detailed blogging and uploadin of photos (prev few housewarming sessions with frens) soon...

9 July 06 - Good Day To Move In

Today is so-called a good/auspiscious day to move into our new house. But Of cuz we are not prepared to start staying over cuz the bed and PC has not moved in yet. Probably next week bah. Most importantly is following the Chinese traditional process of "Moving House". This is what we have done:

~Things to prepare~

One pineapple•
One bunch of bananas•
Five apples•
Five oranges•
Five (another type of fruits)
Red paper for wrapping fruits and sticking on the cooking items.•
1 packet of rice – (Rice can bring from your old house)•
1 small packet of salt•
1 small bottle of cooking oil•
1 big Huat Kuay•
1 new rice container•
1 new sticker – Chang Man (Always Full) to stick on the outside of the rice container•
1 new kettle•
1 new rice cooker•
1 new vacuum flask•
Some clothing sets (just a small packet)•

Bring all the stuff above and proceed to your new house.

~Move-In Procedure for home~

1. Find a suitable auspicious day and time according to Tong Sheng (the Chinese Almanac); the selection of auspicious date should take into consideration of the birth data of the family members. Make sure no one clashes with that day of move-in.

2. Before entering the house, say a prayer at the door and proclaim that you are the rightful owner of the house and claim for its ownership and possession and politely ask any 'uninvited guest' to leave (or perform religious ritual/rite according to your religious belief).

3.Once you entered the house, say auspicious words.

4.The husband enters the house first with cash filled pockets and important documents i.e. shares & marriage certificates.) Other adult family members follow with jewellery &cash. Children carry their school bag filled with books.

5. No one should be empty handed. Bring the 5 necessities for kitchen (cooking oil, salt, sauce, vinegar, rice) and some Chinese customs say bring brush and broom, bucket filled with water, pairs of chopstick or fork and spoon.

6.Prepare the Red paper by cutting strips of about 2cm and wrap around the fruits, Huat Kuay and Nian Gao. Cut some Red paper into round shapes and stick to the packets of rice, salt, cooking oil etc. Wash the fruits and dry it before sticking the Red paper.

7.Once the auspicious time is up, from the old house, start to boil some water in any kettle but not the new one. Not too much, just about able to fill into the new flask you have bought. Once the water is boiling hot (you can hear the sound of water jumping around in the kettle) fill it into the vacuum flask. (please be careful not to scald your hands).

8.If you don't pray then place the fruits and Huat Kuay on the table.

9. Open all the doors and windows and let the Chi flow through the house. Switch on the electricity, on the lights, fan/aircon, TV, sound system etc. Turn on the water tap and stove, let the water run and gas burned for a short moment – this is to signify the flow of energy/chi in the house.

10. Pour the water from the vacuum flask into the new kettle and boil it. The same thing, until your kettle starts whistling and the water jumping inside then you shout 3 times “Huat ah” “Huat ah” “Huat ah”! Let it boil for a short while and off it.

11.Wash the rice and cook it in the new rice cooker. The rest of the rice can pour into the rice container. Try to fill the rice to the top of the container to make it full.

12. Cook the first meal at home. ONLY let FAMILY members eat the first meal. DO NOT share the first meal with anyone else or their WEALTH is believed to be shared by those at the table. You can either buy some food from outside or cook the food yourself and have your lunch or dinner at your new home together with the rice that you have cooked. Sit down and eat happily.

13.Remember to place the clothing sets into the cupboards after your meal.

14. Most importantly, throughout the whole auspicious process, all you those involved must be happy, smile laugh, joke and do not quarrel. Those that you think will be creating ugly scenes should be arranged to go to your house another day and not on the day and time that you “Shift House”

- Actually we did not follow exactly everything that has been recommended, so I only list out the above what we have really done. Well, should be good enough right? Quite tedious for us to do all these yet busy washing and packing...Haha... Its a truly enjoyable process to organize my own kitchen, cleaning my new utensils etc lah... A true Blue Aunty Mok!

Our first cooked rice tastes so nice and delicious! No bluff ok! Its really very tasty...

The Completion of our Safe Haven..

Finally..finally..after about 2 months of renovation, the place where we call "Our Home" is finally completed...

Completed with nice wall paint, nice floor tiles, nice bathrooms, nice kitchen, nice carpentry works, not forgetting our nice furniture...

Of cuz, the hardship behind is our late night packing, and endless cleaning and washing of the whole house. Gosh! Never had I washed 2 toilets in 1 day! Both of us are so dog tired after standing the whole day, and now our feet are still feeling the acheness! Of cuz it is all worth it...

Today we are expecting the arrival of the main "characters" of the day -
1) Our Fridge, Washing Machine, 2 Standing Fans, 1 Rice Cooker & 1 Hot Water Boiler from HL
2) Our L-Shaped Sofa, TV console, Coffee Table, Bedside Table, Dining Table & Dining Chairs from The Furniture Club

Now the house looks more like a Home...

Tomorrow will be busy with moving the stuffs over, and also not forgetting the "Moving House" ritual!

In the meanwhile, enjoy the Before-and-After pictures! Shall update on the auspiscious "Moving House" ritual again!

Our Photoshoot Session: Behind The Scenes...

7am: Rainpour...I suddenly awaken, thinking "Oh no,will this continue for the rest of the day and ruin our photoshoot session?"

Still worrying..I fell back to sleep...

9am: Time to wake up..The weather is still drizzling...Hope it will clear soon...Dear last minute has tummy ache, and in the end we were late for 1/2 hour.

11am-12pm: Makeup Time.

Realised that in the rush of time, I have forgotten to bring my SD memory card out! What's the use of the camera liao leh! So frustrating and causing me some mood change. Dear went out to buy some flowers for the photoshoot, and also a NEW SD memory card (1GB)!! Just for me! Cuz he doesn't want me to be fuming mad the whole day...So sweet of Dear...Sorry for my sudden mood change!

1st outfit is the Kua. So will be tying the ponytail to get the Chi-na look! Haha...

12pm-3pm: Indoor Photoshoot Session

Changed 3 outfits & 3 hairstyle's and numerous posing and posing..We are both so stiff! Duno how to pose lor! The photographer, Yen, keeps telling us to be natural, have some motions, dun look at him,etc...Aiyah! We are running out of our limited postures and motions liao lah! sigh...

Short lunchbreak of Braised Duck Rice..Yummy...Very hungry liao...

3.30pm: Outdoor Photoshoot Session

Off we go...1st to Marina Square, 2nd to Science Centre, last place to Le Meridien Changi Village hotel.

At first its very awkward trying to pose with people looking at you, and we duno how to pose (again)! At Science Centre where there are quite a lot of school kids, both of us is already in "irritated" mood as Yen says the place is too "messy" with alot of things, no focus. And also Dear is perspiring like crazy wearing the jacket. We just can't switch on the "Lovingly" mode while we take photos...Thank goodness, we managed to get it over and off to the Changi Village Hotel. After changing to casual clothes and with air-con in the hotel, Dear is finally brightening up and so our moods are so liften. We managed to get permission on the spot by the duty manager, for us to go to their swimming pool to take photos! YEh! What a nice and considerate guy!

The photoshoot session is not exactly fun! Its patience & mood testing lor. Luckily the cool and cloudy weather does not worsen the situation...Hope the photos will turn out fine..
