Teris is Back!!! Yipee!!

Our dear friend is finally back to Singapore, thou only for a short 1 week visit. But we are all so happy to see her, feel her, hear her, and laugh with her! Even we get closer to Jeroen. He's more than Teris's husband, as what we have previously knew him as. He is our friend!
The genuine friendship that we have for one another, the genuine love I have felt in each of the couples, and the genuine laughter we have shared with one another are so treasurable...
I love and enjoyed every single moments that I have spent with Teris while she is in Singapore. Not forgetting Jeroen always showing funny actions and telling jokes that really tickles us!!

A recep of what we have done while Teris was here:

Friday nite:
- Dinner @ The Soup Restuarant (Suntec)
- We gave a cute cushion set to Huijing as her ROM gift
- I got a set of beautiful candles for my new house, many thanks to Teris and Jeroen.

Saturday:
- I had lunch with Teris & Jeroen @ Tan Quee Lan Street, then we walk over to my wedding hotel to meet Huijing & Ziqin. We went to gate crash the wedding show @ Plaza Park Royal cuz we want to see the room settings. At the same time, Huijing and Ziqin also want to see their ROM room at the same hotel too. We had lotsa fun at the hotel!
- Next we went to my new house to see the current stages of the renovation.
- Lastly we went over to Clarke Quay to have our dinner @ The Riverside Idonesian Restuarant with Candice Y., Wanling & Ah Bao. Adeline was there, but at another table with her ex-classmates.
- After dinner, we walk over to China Square to have the famous Mr Teh Tarik while we chit chat away..

Step 4: Laying of Floor & Wall Tiles+Aircon Piping Works

Wonderful memories of the 3 of us in my new house..

It has been another week, and more works have been done at my new house. The pebble wash @ the foyer area & U-Box area has been layed, homogenous tiles @ living room, kitchen, and master bathroom are all done up as well. Only the laminate flooring for the rooms are not done yet.

The 1st stage of the aircon pipping & trunkage has also been done, and glad that Dear took time off to supervise and coordinate the running of the pipes. Heard its quite complicated.

Our purchases for the week:
1) Lightings for the whole house from Lights Arcade @ Balestier
2) Kitchen Spice & Towel Rack holder from Song Cho

Another happy thing to share is that, I brought my 2 best friends along with their partners (Teris + Jeroen, Huijing + Ziqin) to view our renovating house. I want to share my pride and joy with them, as this is our biggest asset under our name, and they are the important ones whom I want to share my joy with. They give constructive feedback and tips for our house. I am really very happy when I start to see more and more things being done up in my house and is looking forward to the day when it will be completed...

Letter to Him..

My Letter To Him

I am feeling very upset over our argument, you know? I din mean to put across the meaning that I am blaming you for not calling up the air-con company to book the appt for installation, as required by the ID. I understand that you have taken alot of time and efforts in coordinating the renovation stuffs, and even take time off from work to monitor the air-con piping progress today, despite knowing that there are piles of work awaiting for you in the office. I understand how much efforts that you have put in, cuz I am a blur and lost sotong in the whole reno process. BUT, what I am telling you, is that you can tell me to coordinate for the air-con installation date if you are really tied up! Its important cuz the technicians are normally in tight schedule and since we have reminders from our ID to book earlier, we should do that. I know you are busy and you should tell me to do it, instead of telling me that you would do it. You say you forgotten about it, Yes I know, cuz you are too busy. I may not be as good as you in all these reno stuffs, but when you need help, juz say it, dun keep quiet and wait till things are not done, both of us get unhappy, like now..

I know we've been in a very unhappy and stressful state when alot of coordination work needs to be done, and we have to juggle with work matters daily..I really hope the unhappiness between us can be neutralised when we fully understand the real message that I am trying to put across to you. If you need anything from me, juz say out. Please do not carry the burden by yourself.

I really hope our relationship will not be affected by all these constant arguments and unhappiness from the house reno process...Its really demoralising...

What we look forward to is a nice, beautiful, comfortable, and most importantly, a happy home...

I am sorry, if my tone has hurt you..I din mean to blame you.

Purchases for the House - Part 3

An update of our discussion with the ID and the purchases for the house:

1) Confirmed the color for the kitchen cabinet (white), glass backing (bright orange)
2) Confirmed the color for the vanity top (glossy black) and vanity cabinet (white)
3) Confirmed the laminate flooring (Kronotex)
4) Confirmed the color of the feature wall and divider
5) Confirmed the layout of the kitchen cabinet, and walk-in wardrobe after last week's discussion.

As we took out some of the initial items, we get to reduce our reno cost to $26k.

Purchases:
1) Franke Sink + Mixer + Accessories + Soap Dispenser @ Promotion Price + Discounted Price = $390

Accessories:

What's left:
1) To confirm our bathtub, bathroom basin mixer, rainshower set, common bathroom shower

Another trip down to Poh Joo again...

2) Lightings

A trip down to Balestier whereby it is well-known for the whole stretch of lighting shops

We may need to change our chimney hob because it may be cut short to accomodate our piping in the kitchen. It will look short and fat after cutting it, therefore we may have to change to something slimmer.

Can't wait to see more things being done this coming week, and showing my best friend, Teris to our house. Think the flooring should be done by then

Step 3: Electrical Wiring + False Ceiling

Today we went up to check up on our new house, with the commencement of the renovation. A recep of what has been started:

1) Laying of electrical wiring
2) Constructing false ceiling (Living rm, Master Bedroom, Master Bathroom)
3) Arrival of floor and wall tiles in preparation of the flooring works for next week

We also went to our newly-renovated hotel to pay the 2nd deposit. Not bad, as compared to the older version. Zen-look. Even the Ballroom is newly renovated. Hope to see the room settings when we pop by the wedding show on next sat.

Purchases for the House - Part 2

Today we took a day off to settle the bank loan with RHB, and thinking of the various loan we have to pay off every month puts us off. Money Money Money.. We need more MONEY $$$ !!!

Then we went to Leaping Lizard to see see wedding shoes, but finds that its not really worth the price I have to pay, so decided to go other places to see see look look before I buy.

In the noon, the real challenge is awaiting for us as we embark on our journey to purchase the Hood, Hob, Stove, Sinks, Taps, Bathtub, Storage Heater, Rainshower set starting from Poh Joo @ Jalan Besar, then other similar shops along Jalan Besar, then lastly to MacPherson. Finally we go back to Poh Joo to buy the following items..Another few hundred bucks has flew out of our pocket (Only considering the deposit oh!)

Items Bought:
1) Cuzino hob, hood and Oven @ good bargain prices!!

2) Joven 35litres Storage Heater
3) Wash Basin for Master Bathroom

Items to be bought:
1) Bathtub (Torn between a few brands due to the credibility of the quality)
2) Taps, Rainshower set (Dear can't decide which one he likes best!)
3) Kitchen Basin and Tap (Considering the Franke Promotion Set)

The whole afternoon is so damn HOT AND OVERBEARING and causing us in a frustrated mood!! We are so so so damn tired travelling around to buy these items...But glad we have gotten a good buy for the Kitchen appliances!! Its really a good bargain!!

Tomorrow is our official 动土Day, whereby we choose an auspicious date and time to start reno work, to get a good start for our new life and new home!! We will not be there when the reno kickstart tomorrow..Will be "supervised" by mother-in-law instead. The electricity and water will also be activated tomorrow in the afternoon as well, supervised by "father-in-law". Haha..I have a pair of helpful in-laws!! Glad we live nearby such that travelling for them will be easier. Hee...Can take care of each other better.

House preparations - Feelings Review 1

Recently I am in a frenzy bad mood, throwing temper (at Him most of the time) easily. Especially when we were discussing on which bathroom tiles to choose, which type of taps or sinks are nice, etc...All these are small and essential part and parcel of making our house beautiful, and it is really brain straining and patience testing for 2 different individuals having to discuss and compromise on their different likings and dislikes. Furthermore, 2 different persons may have different ideas and perspectives on how a house will look nice. I admit my tone and snappy attitude isnt that good when we have to discuss and confirm all these items fast. And he has been giving me feedback, wondering why am I in such a frustrated mood recently. Sigh...Is it stress or PMS in additional? I am sorry that I am treating him this way..especially whenever I tell him I dun like certain of his ideas (cum likings), he has no choice but to give in to me.. After I have cooled down, I will try to look at his point of view, and try to have his idea to be included. Afterall, he is part of the house owner too! I do not want to be overbearing in this sense too. I hope the frenzy part will be over real soon, and a beautiful home of our own will be the final result!

Now the updates of our purchase and findings today:
1) Confirmed Aircon - Toshiba System 3 Non-Inverter Aircon

It is as efficient as the well-known Mitsubishi Starmex aircon, but much cheaper than it. Cost -efficiency is what we want! We purchased from a highly recommended shop - All Best @ IMM whereby Uncle Teo explained everything in detailed!! We are so pleased with his sincere and patient explanation, not forgetting his FOC servicing vouchers worth $120 (= 4 free sessions) and being labeled as CaseTrust outlet, we purchase from him on the spot! Do get his contacts from me if anyone of you are interested next time! Next week the aircon technician will be going to our house to do the piping works.

2) Went to look for Hob,Hood, Sink, Taps, Bathtub, Rainshower @ IMM shops. Gotten some prices there and will be going to Jalan Besar recommended shop this week.

*So busy*

Step 2 to our New House: HDB Screeding & Checking of defects

Left there by the HDB screeding workers

Now we have approached nearer to the start of our renovation.. But before any reno works can start, we had gotten the HDB to do the checking of defects in our house, and do to the screeding works in our 3 bedrooms.

We also met up with both the Electrician and the Interior Designer to discuss about our electrical points - to remain, to move or to remove...Well, it comes up to the total bill of $1800 for all the shifting, adding of electrical points!! OH MY GOD!! But we have the assurance from our ID that the Electrician - Ah Xiong, is a trustworthy guy,and the prices are reasonable..He has given us some discount too...No choice lor..

Today we met up with our ID and had a LONG discussion session, of the following items:
1) Choosing of colors (whole house)
2) Choosing of pebblewash (for foyer area and U-Box floor area in living room)
3) Choosing of 3 bedroom doors & handle
4) Choosing of laminate flooring for 3 bedrooms
5) Confirming of bathroom wall and floor tiles
6) Discussing the details on kitchen cabinets, wardrobe cabinets, divider and feature wall designs

Very taxing... Will lose myself in the midst of it at times cuz too much details!!

Things to be done within these 2 weeks:
1) Buy System 3 aircon, Cooker Hob & Hood, Sink, Vanity Basin, Storage Heater, Bathtub
2) Apply for electricity and water with PUB
3) To confirm loan with RHB

So busy and packed within such a short period!! Think both are us are real stressed up, mentally, physically and financially!! Hopefully as what the ID says, after these 2 weeks, will be slightly less rushed. We are rushing now cuz everyone tries to avoid the Lunar 7th month..

Things to settle after these 2 weeks:
1) Buy lightings
2) And other stuffs that we have not known yet.haha...

Happy Birthday Hubby!!

6th May 2006 - My hubby's 27th Birthday and coincidentally being appointed as the official Polling Day by the government!! I am given an extra vacation day in return!! Haha..

Surprises for Dear:
1) Booked a birthday cake online from Cake Avenue. His favourite cake - Black forest. I arranged it to be delivered to his house between 10am - 12pm but forgotten he has tuition during that time!! SO I tried my best to make him stay with me till 12pm when (finally) the delivery man arrived with the long-awaited cake!! Ta-Dah!! Surprise!! But well, Dear was really "pleased" cuz I kept rushing him to open the door, and he appeared semi-naked on top so he is quite paisheh..hee...sorry lah, I am too anxious for u to receive my planted surprise mah!

2) I ordered a personalised stamps with SingPost, containing 4 of our photos, including our ROM, @ Teris's wedding and a cute photo of us taken at one of the Xmas wearing the party hats (That is the same photo he puts on his office's desktop picture! hee..) Initially I requested the gift to be delivered on 6th May but since it is a PH, they decided to send it on 4th May instead. Initially the processing time is 2 weeks, but I have made a special request with them. However when I first knew the parcel was nt delivered on 4th May, i get quite disappointed. Then I did alot of coordination to ensure it be delivered on 5th May. But because there is no one at home to receive the parcel, we have to self-collect on Monday. Sigh... Despite all the twists and turns, Dear still like the surprise gift alot!! Thank goodness!!

The whole day was busy with sourcing for bathroom accessories, but unfortunately many shops were closed due to the Polling Day. Sigh,in the end we went to Queensway Shopping Centre to look for his windbreaker (supposing ly the actual gift for him) after I have went to vote. We din get anythin cuz the right size is not available.

For Dinner, we went to The Paddy Fields - Tung Lok Thai's restuarant. The food is not bad, thou its not cheap. Well, we deserve to get better treatment on his birthday, isnt it? Hee..Anyway, its Dear's treat wat! No need to save for him..hee...

After dinner, we went to IKEA to get the spare plank for our sofa bed (To trace back, it got broken for quite sometime). Then we walk around for some ideas for our future home stuffs..

Tiring day, but enjoyable : )

Should I get a new phone??

I am feeling quite troubled recently...wondering should I change my current handphone..well, probably to singles out there who have a regular income, buying a new handphone should be of no worries. But for me, as someone who is starting to have my own home and wedding finances to worry, buying a new phone at this point of time is simply a LUXURY ( A Want, not a Need). I should put the few hundred bucks to good use by buying furnishing or electronic stuffs mah, or to pay whatever wedding payments I need to pay...

Hmm... butt I quite like slide phone nowadays, and is attracted to Samsung phones. Another lame reason, my current phone abit response problem when using the joystick..hee...

Aiyoyo...so 烦恼!

Goodbye Husky

Some old memories left of Husky...Hope he's doing well in his new home, new owner.

Huijing's Birthday..1st Bday w/o Teris

Yesterday is Labour Day, a Public holiday, and the day to celebrate the birthday of a good friend of mine! ONG HUIJING!! This year is the first time that we spent our birthday celebration without another very good friend of ours - ONG MEILING TERIS!!! She has always been our joy and pride, laughter can be heard from miles away, gossips and jokes never-ending. Oppss...Did I leak out her dark secrets and also her good pts? hee... As usual, we miss her a lot, despite the constant updating of each other's lives. Well, the topic is focusing on Wedding and Housing liao..what's next, girls? Hee...

Proud to say that I came up with the idea of getting a sound recordable Birthday Card and record Meiling's long-missed voice and short wishes in the card for Huijing! Althou its so short and sweet, i know she'll love the loud voice and laughter from Meiling.. We also got Suntec vouchers for her,so that she can buy things that she like without spending money! Very soon, it will be her ROM liao..All the Best to her..

Happy Birthday once again.
