Our 1st "Matchmaking" Mission - Successful!

Me & my hubby were requested by his Malay ex-colleague-cum-good friend to be his translator-cum-"matchmaker" when he & his family were to visit the bride's parents to discuss about the wedding dowry details yesterday (fyi- the bride is a Chinese). Of cuz' we gladly lended our helping hands since we know both the bride and groom-to-be, and my hubby is so-called the CHINA translator...muhaha...

It was quite an experience, as we see that the groom comes from a traditional Islamic family while the bride is from a traditional Chinese/Hokkien family background..so we were kinda worried that the negotiation part might be difficult. Its not about the dowry, more about the Martell which is supposed to be given by the groom side to the bride side, especially after we have seen displays of many bottles of Martell at the bride's place!!!  (Getting worried...) Thankfully the parents of the bride are quite open-minded even thou' they don't look like they are  and we managed to convince them to change the request for Martell to something else..most likely maybe both sides will exchange soft drinks lor. Anyway, customs are pretty flexible nowadays, so long both families are willing to give and take, it should be ok bah...Throughout the meeting, the bride's parents kept mentioning "so long she likes lor..up to them lor..." Think its also quite hard for them to accept that their only youngest daughter is going to be converted to Islamic especially they themselves got pray to Gods one...sigh, but so long its for the happiness of their daughter, no matter how hard, they will also accept...Hope he will treat her good good forever...

Well, the first discussion ends well, with most of the important details being brought up and settled. We even have to write minutes of meeting oh.. haha..no la, its just informal one la...

I Wish I Am...

The theme for this year NTUC Income SRC Dinner & Dance - "I Wish I Am..."

For me...I wish I am a happily married woman with lovable kids and a doting husband...haha...So I do not need to dress up in any special outfits, I juz need to be 美美beside my hubby will do liao lor..(except the part of having lovable kids still havnt realise yet...haha...)

It was quite a fun event, very apart from the one I attended 2 years ago...It is so much entertainment and laughter this year, with the emcee being a good entertainer and also the inclusion of Kumar talkshow for one of the items! He's really funny and "dirty"-cum-"racist". Food was quite nice, thou I prefer the Chinese food more to the Malay food (this year its a Chinese-cum-Malay menu). The new CEO is also very spontaneous, dressing up as some fierce Wrestler, and really puttin up that fierce look for the whole nite when he comes on stage..really like to act lor...

Well....What/Who do you wish you are?

Happy Fathers' Day!!

Spent a memorable Fathers' Day with my family on last Saturday, at Hong Kong Street Family Restaurant (along Serangoon Road). Service was quite prompt, food was not bad, most importantly, we spent a jolly' good time having dinner together as a family and sharing jokes and laughter...

On Sunday, me n Dear personally prepared a meal of homecooked dinner for my in-laws, as a way of celebrating Fathers' Day with them...

This is the way I love my life..simple and heartwarming... : )

16.06.07 - Prawn Fishing Competition

Dear and his company went for Prawn Fishing Competition @ Pasir Ris last Saturday..He managed to catch 1 fish (which shouldn't be in the pond) and few prawns..Think their team should win the competition as they seem to have the most number of prawns... A pity I can't be there cuz' I was taking my Final Theory Test and sad to mention that..I failed... sigh...In the end, Dear rushed down to accompany me immediately after the competition cuz I was feeling real disappointed and down, and he can't get to take group photo with new CEO...hee...sorry dear...

18 June 2007 - Solemnization of Mr & Mrs Patrick Ang

18 June 2007 - This day marks a special day for Mr & Mrs Patrick Ang as they vow to be husband and wife, in the eyes of law. I know Mrs Ang must be very happy as it has always been her dream to be "Mrs Ang" (She called herself as Mrs Ang ever since they started to pa-tor)... Whether is it also Mr Ang's dream to marry her, I duno :P (cuz' during his turn to say his vows, we din know if he is really "我愿意" or not...hee...) It was a very comical and hilarious scene at the solemnization ceremony cuz' this pair is always so funny!!! So there is this joke that arises of whether is he really "愿意" or not...hiak hiak...

It is a so-different feeling being at the ROM one yr ago (for my own solemnization) and now (to witness my friend's solemnization)...It is another kind of happiness being felt...But how I missed my own ROM, cuz' that day, you are the bride, you are the main point of attraction, you feel so loved, so embraced by blessing from friends and family...How I missed those! Not forgetting the dress-up nice nice portion as well! Oh well, despite all these, I am glad that I am still happily married after a year, and especially happy that I have married a good man for life...( Lucky I "chop" him fast fast...haha...)

All the best to both of you, and your new marriage life...Life in front of you is challenging yet fulfilling. Do remember to treasure & love each other more, and always be considerate towards each other's feelings...

Love,

Mrs Yam (Tianxin)

Primary School Gathering - Dinner & Drinks

When Susan came back end of last month, we had a small primary school gathering on eve of Vesak's Day..This time round, we have included a new member - Jean...Normally its only 4 of us - Susan, Evelyn, Qixi and me. Its good to catch up with her, after she had melted down her "cool" outer look and started to blend with us...

Had dinner @ Changing Appetites (One of my fav place to eat) & drinks @ Harry's Bar (Esplanade). Quite an inapproprite choice as the live music is too loud, and the place is too stuffy and hot..We practically could'nt hear what each other is saying...

Just pose a few pictures here.more at Susan's multiply.

Very enjoyable gathering..Cheers to our long-life friendship!

Brother's POP - 13 June 07

How time flies...my brother was in tekong camp for the past few months, and now he has finally "graduated" from the camp...

These are the photos they took at his POP (Passing-out Parade)..A pity I can't go cuz' only have 2 tickets...I will be so proud with my brother when he started marching...

All-Girls Genting Trip 2007

Had my very first own All-Girls Holiday Trip with part of the sisters' group - namely Tanlin, Suling & me, to Genting on 7 June 07!! (Not forgetting the big group of family members of Tanlin..later u shall see how big their extended family is!!). We set off on Thur nite, and to arrive on Friday wee hours...*Yawnz...* So tired...Have to wait till Friday afternoon before we can check in...

Basically this is my 2nd time to Genting, my very 1st was with my hubby, so this experience is definitely a very special and different one (especially I went without my hubby..we were apart for these few days, so miss him!!!!!)

Had a few plays at some of the games in Casino, eg the usual Jackpot, Rolette, Big/Small, which are electronially operated (to my amaze!) Maybe I too suaku or it has been veryyyyyyyy longgggggggg since I went to Genting liao...It was kinda fun, except that money keep flowing out fast..As I wan to do more shopping, eating and other activities, I have to restrain myself from spending too much on gambling...

Had a great time @ the KTV, price range still ok, songs not that new thou...Anyway, 3 hours seem not enuf for us that day hor? *Winks* We still had a long list of songs yet to be sung by the time we need to leave...

Had my first Foot Reflexology there too..Quite enjoyable thou painful and ticklish at times..But quite awkward with men massaging our feet for us!!! (Me & Suling)

Also had a great shopping time! - Bought 2 tops for myself, 1 Adidas T-shirt for Dear, a top for my mum, a T-shirt for father-in-law (juz happened to see it), 2 sets of Winne-the -Pooh clothese for my niece..Hope she can wear cuz she's growing too fast!!!!

We even created a Birthday Surprise for Tanlin's cousin - Qiqi. She turns 15 yrs old on 10 June 07. So while Tanlin & her cousins went to watch Ocean's 13 on the night of 9 June 07, me & Suling went to collect the cake from Baskin' Robbins and lit the candles once she stepped into our room!! Sweet, isnt it?

We also met this pair of cute kids (Boy: Eden, 2 yrs old; Girl: Shanice, 3 yrs old) on the bus rite home..They are such a pair of lovely kids who really make the 3 of us melt... Eden kept coming over to hug us, while Shanice is such a good girl!! She can even sing a short phrase of 月亮代表我的心..oh...isn't she sweet???

The only disappointment there is that we din get to catch Shrek 3 even thou we have bought the tickets a day before the screening...Sigh...all becuz of the projector technical problems...so lousy... As I just recovered from my stomach flu, I was quite careful in wat I ate, but stimes no choice also have to eat fast food...Also met a few stupid ppl there who frustrates us...Suling, u should know who rite? The Baskins' ppl...

Dear girls: Thanks for the wonderful time you've given me on this trip...It will be a wonderful memory for me!

Dear hubby: Thanks for being such a sweet hubby to me, helping me to unpack when I was so tired and giddy from the bus trip...

Pissed-Off Incident on the train

Yesterday had a very much unhappy and pissed-off incident on the MRT, when I was heading towards Somerset after work...

A very Kiasu+Kiasee+Bitchy+Inconsiderate+Unreasonable Aunty actually SPRINTED to a last empty seat on the train, and knocked onto the side of my face as I was sitting down. Apparently we are not taking the same seat, and she is RUSHING over to chop the one and only seat opposite mine! U can't imagine how shocked am I towards her attitude!!! She even shoved her face up in the air, and purposely dun look at me. Not even a "Sorry"!! My goodness!!! Why is she so KIASU???? Will she die if others got the seat before her? Will she die by standing??? RIDICULOUS SINGAPOREANS!!!! (not all, but some)
