Fri nite @ Barstop - Sat nite Wine & Cheese Session @ Klang Lane

On Fri nite, had a drinking gathering with Candice and Adeline's group - friends whom we got closer becuz of Teris...Everyone was present, even Candice's poly frens. Only 2 persons were missing from the gathering - Jeroen & Teris...We missed both of u..both of ur presence...Hope to bring u 2 to Barstop @ Devonshire Rd soon... Had a great nite with the gang, but not for the Yam couple thou..shall not mention it here..

Sat evening had a belated birthday gathering for Meilian. Activities for the night was Food as usual ( I prepared sausage platter, and got some 'exploded' sausages cuz i put them in the oven for too long..heee..but it tastes nice too!), Special additions was Wine & Cheese tasting, and DVD watching at my house. Got a pretty good news from one of the girl-friens-She's getting married!!! At Chjimes lor!! And I will be there..hiak hiak..hopefully I am being invited to the ceremony @ Chjimes..please... She got this big diamond ring lor! One thing fortunate is, her fiance is from a rich family. Not a spoilt kid..he's one nice sweet guy...Happy for u, Jill! They even got a condo as gift from her future in-laws lor!! How envy!!! Anyway, its her good fortune to have all these nice things befalling on her...

17th April 2007

This is what happened on 17th April 2007, worth remembering...:

1. Ben & Jerry's Free Cone Day! - We managed to get free Ben & Jerry's ice-cream on their annual Free Cone Day! By right it will be quite difficult for us to do that on a typical working day. However, with the new outlet @ Raffles City, we managed to do that! My hubby went for the 1st round with his colleagues during lunch, and I went after work (He came for the 2nd round after work too!) The queue was damn long but lucky us that it moves very fast, and we got our free ice-cream!

2. Babies!! - Don't be mistaken..I am not pregnant yet.. Its my hubby's cousin's wife who gave birth to a pair of TWIN girls!! They are non-identical twins. Its their 1st baby( I should say babies). Hopefully they can handle the 2 new-borns at one time...Even buying stuffs for them, you either have to think of Double Portion or In Bulk lor! Anyway, we are happy for them! It has been a successful delivery....

 

Our 1st Test Drive Experience

Went for our 1st test drive yesterday - The Honda Jazz, after we both finished our driving lessons.. Our very first time being more serious in purchasing a car, cuz usually we only say say, look look, then walk away from the showroom...We actually requested for a test drive in the car which we are eyeing, and got the sales exec to show us the financial calculations...The guy is quite pleasant, not too irritating or pestering.. We are very tempted to buy a car, especially before the GST hike in July...But still doing our calculations on our side...Have to consider alot of factors - my unfinished study loan, our reno loan, instalment loans etc etc... Sigh...money always not enough...

My Bro's Army Enlistment Day - 12.04.2007

12.04.2007 - A memorable day for me, as we (my dad, mum, brother's gf and my lao gong) sent my brother off to Pulau Tekong on his army enlistment day.

At Pulau Tekong where he will receive his Basic Military Training (BMT), where he will have to suffer physical and mental hardship through the rigorous training, where he will grow from a boy to man...

Lucky for him, he was in ODAC for the past few years so he was kinda used to tough physical and mental training when he was on trekking trips, camping trips etc... So I will not be so worried about his adaptility to army life...

Had a tour around the BMTC and had a taste of the food he will be having (Heard from Dear that in the past, the food was cooked by the army mates and quite 难吃. Now it is being cooked by foodcourt vendors so improved alot liao...Now also no need to wash own plates after eating...) In a way, the quality of army life seems to have improved ya?

Saw my CCO (Chief Country Officer) during the tour..his son should be in the same batch as my brother..But din go up and self-intro myself leh..But I ask my bro to go befriend his son..haha..rich man's son mah! :P

My dear brother, we will miss you while you are suffering in there for the next 2 weeks... Can't wait to see ur 6-packs becoming bigger! haha... 加油!

Friday the 13th..Good or Bad?

It has always been the superstitious legend that Friday the 13th are unlucky and have this bad notion about them..This has happened to me today (Friday, the 13th), and I am not sure if it is considered good or bad?

Scenario 1: Had a dentist appointment during lunch (attended by a nice young gentleman dentist..Oops!my hubby will kill me after reading this...) then it started to pour and ...Me & Dear got real drenched by the rain blowing in our direction, despite we sharing an umbrella... Can't go back office in this bad state, decided to take 1/2 day off instead.

The Good:
1) I can go back and rest!! Yipee!!
2) I know how good my colleagues are to me, by being so kind and understanding towards me, and not being demanding/unreasonable towards my last min request for 1/2 day off.

The Bad:
1) I am really drenched and quite difficult to walk in the big rain with my heels slipping off...Argh!
2) Wasted my limited Leave...sigh...

Scenario 2: I finally reach my house after much difficulty walking in the rain...Only at my ground level then I realise that I left my house keys in office cuz' I only brought along wallet, hp with me during lunch..SUCKS! And Dear was asking me whether I'd all the impt stuffs with me, before we departed our ways...STUPID ME!!!

The Good:
1) I feel fortunate that we are living so near town such that under special circumstances like this, I can go back easily and need not travel for long hours...
2) Living near my in-laws is definitely a right choice (a good one too!) My FIL helped to bring me the spare keys as he is at home by coincidental. He actually walked a good whole 10 mins from his house to mine lor..How touched I am..Kinship...I always treasure this kinship I have gotten...Feel lucky to have such a nice in-laws...

The Bad:
1) Feeling stupid for forgetting to get the keys from Dear before we departed our ways...Stupid rite?

So, am I unlucky because of all these series of happenings to me today, or should I count my lucky stars with so many nice people surrounding me?

Eating Humble Pie

Working in society...1st thing you have to learn is... Eat Humble Pie, rather, you SWALLOW it!


Humble Pie is not tasty..Its not a Chicken Pie, its not a Shepherd Pie...Its a Pie that consists of the below ingredients:

1. Frustrations
2. Anger
3. Unjustice
4. Ignorance
5. Internal Resistance/ Objections


No matter how frustrated you are, how unjustice you felt, swallow it..just swallow it...

I just swallowed a big one this morning, cuz' I know I did made some mistakes in the midst of it. At the same time, I was trying to swallow my tears too...

Who ask me to be the most junior among all, and she's the TIGRESS in our department (= 3 ppl including me). I just listen to her constant nagging, occasionally criticising how I did my work w/o being meticulous & of cuz' my mistakes made yesterday in her absence... Best lor...I eat my humble pie, I learn from my mistakes..But what I really wan to tell her is, reflect at your own work too...I saw the mistakes that you have done all these while despite constant BRAGGING of how METICULOUS and DETAILED you are...

Excuse Me...I dun think you are really that METICULOUS & DETAILED thou...

Good Friday - Outing with the Sisters!

A relaxing and eventful Public Holiday (Good Friday) for me and my sisters - Tanlin, Suling & Sharon (Absentee = Meiyan).

Started with massage and spa treatment @ Aspara Spa (Amara Hotel) with Tanlin and Suling. Well well...the overall grade is about 6.5 pts upon 10 pts, so not highly recommended. I had better ones..Nevertheless, it was our 1st-time going to spa treatment together, thou' separate rooms la...

After the spa and massage, we all felt relaxed...Next is some window shopping at Plaza Singapura which turns out to be ACTUAL shopping in the end..muhahah...No choice, we 3 just happened to find suitable clothes in Dorothy Perkins that we can't resist buying...Luckily I am not the one who bought the most items!! Anyway, it was a fulfilling shopping trip there.

Lastly is the main event of the day - Buffet dinner @ Swissotel Merchant Court Hotel (The Market Place). Not our 1st time there, but thank goodness there has been some additions to the variety there...Lobster, scallops, some yummy juicy meat, etc etc...Not to forget mentioning the ever-famous specialty: The Durian Dessert... A pity that I can't get another photo of the desserts uploaded...They are yummy-licious too!! There are still many other foods that I din manage to stuff it down my stomach cuz' I was too full... We'd a good time updating each other of our lives, sharing our future plans, etc...Even had some gossipy times cuz' of a couple who is having their solemnization there. Ssh.... can't tell here... hee...
