Opening Our New House - 11th Mar 2006

Today is an auspicious day for us to open our new house and we finally had a chance to step into our house and see how is it like! We follow the below Open House Ritual cuz we hope to have a good start for this important beginning of our life chapter. Its quite fun too! hee...

Open House Ritual 开屋仪式

Things to bring on Opening House Day:

A Pineapple with leaves on top of the tip
A small packet of Rice (uncooked)
A bit of salt (half of those small packets)
A packet of normal Chinese tea leaves
A new plastic bowl (Red colour) small and easy to use to mix above items.
A Huat Kueh 发糕
5 Red apples
A packet of sweets

Instructions:

Open your door at the auspicious hour of the day.

Mix the small packet of rice with the Chinese tea leaves and salt. Place it all in a new Red plastic bowl. As you open the door at the auspicious timing, take a handful of the mixed rice, salt, tea leaves and throw it into your house three times before you step in. As you throw the rice, you shout out "Huat ah, Huat ah, Huat ah"

Remember, as you or your spouse steps in for the first time after throwing the rice 3 times from outside the main door (for female right leg enter first, for male left leg enter first)

Then your partner can place the pineapple on the floor starting from the main door and start to roll the pineapple into the house and say "Ong Ong Lai Lai" “旺旺来来”Roll it all over the place and place it at a corner of the living room. Keep it there for a few days, until the pineapple has juice coming out, then you dispose it.

As your partner roll the pineapple, you will continue to throw the remaining rice and tea leaves at all corners of your house. Open all the windows and leave the house (Don't forget to lock the door). Come back after an hour or two. (Purpose is to clear the stale air).

If you don’t have the time, at least you open all the windows before you continue to throw the remaining rice in the house.

Place the Huat Kueh, 5 Red apples and packet of sweets at the kitchen. Remember to bring home to eat when you leave. The Huat Kueh symbolizes “Huat”, the apples symbolize Peace and the sweets symbolize Sweet Future. You can leave the rice, salt, leaves on the floor; the renovation contractors will clear it when they start renovation.

Bintan Trip - Short Getaway Trip

We had dinner @ The Kelong, and wanted very much to capture this beautiful sun setting view!

It is our 2nd time there at Bintan Nirwana Gardens, tinking of having our normal spa baths but then our plans actually changed in a way or so.

We are slightly more sporty tis time round - going to gym and kayaking!!
After a tough session of kayaking individually as the doubly kayak was rented out, I sat at the beach, feeling the rush of waters... I looked at the group of students who are on camping trip, also kayaking in pairs, I have some deep thots...

Kayaking is just like our life processes..The intial stage of moving forward is difficult as the currents are stronger when its nearer to the shore. The waves kept pushin u back to where you have started, but you muz strive on even harder, even order to reach the calmer waves. In life, the initial stage can be difficult, but as long as you perserve and put in extra efforts, you will ultimately ride on the waves and reach your ultimate goal. However if you decide to give up and turn against the goal, you will be riding Together with the waves, back to the shore - your intial start point. Wat's the point of giving up and turning back to where you have started? U will never grow if you keep turning back when you fail.

We feel so great riding on the waves, pushing ourselves hard in order to reach the calm waters. Dear and I had great fun on the waters!! We even went sea-shell picking along the beach, and discovered some real marine life, like the tiny crab inside the seashell. Its so amazing! When we were walking back to our resort, instead of taking the bus, we also discovered more things! We saw a moving Monitor lizard in the pool of lilies (thou it looks like a crocodile siah!), and also along the road, we saw 2 deers which seem to be "freezing" in action!! Haha... And also a small squirrel jumping from fence to fence, munching on a small nut. So amazing to discover new things on our 2nd trip!

Enjoy the scenary pictures bah!

Farewell Photos 03-03-2006

Its quite a teaful event for my colleague Shelina Quek when our company (ex?) throw us a Farewell-cum-Welcome Party yesterday. The speech by Poh Suan is so touching, and I will always admire and miss her very much. She's a very very nice superior, nvr look down on us and willing to work hard with us. I din cry thou, I am nt sure if I am a cold-blooded animal, haha...But deep down, I do miss every single item and ppl in P-serv.I cant bear to leave this familiar environment too..

After the parting, we met up with the rest of the ex-Pserv staff at Kenny Rogers (Marina Square) for a feast! There was non-stop chatting, laughing, and its such a joyous mood for all! Especially when our long-awaited Ailing mummy arrived with her darling Amelia, that we can't stop hovering over her and her baby! She's such a nice and cute darling, never ever threatening with her cries. Just very nice natured baby. Hope I can have more time to see her in the future.

I will miss everyone whom have touched my life in some ways or another.

Final Journey @ P-Serv

3rd Mar 2006: A nice date to remember, as its my pal's birthday and also my last and final day at P-Serv.

This was my 1st job after I graduate from University and I have truly gained a lot of good experience in this industry and in this company. In P-Serv, I have definitely gotten to know a group of good co-partners and friends whom we have grown quite closely with one another. From this group, I have also got to learn many of life's experiences from seniors. They were ever so willing to teach and guide me, thou I was reprimanded when I did not do my job well. I want to say many many Thank You to all of those people who have influenced my life in one way or another...In a way, i feel that I have grown up quite a lot...To deal with the unhappy things and ppl, to react to unexpected things...I also want to say Thank You to my team members (Ex and Current ones) for working so closely with me, and tolerating my harshness attitude at times, mood swings too...I am really glad that I have your best support for me throughout, and also the generousity towards my attitude...I will remember all of you definitely! As the picture shows, both of you gave such good support to me!! haha...

In this working environment, everything and everyone is so fun and spontaneous!! We juz joke around, bitch around, laugh around ,snack around..non-stop...haha...Of cuz we are still serious and professional in our work thou. I am also glad that I have got to know many nice clients (of cuz plus the difficult ones too) in my work scope too. Once I have sent out notification email regarding my last day, some are shocked that I am leaving, some called immediately to wish me the best, asking me where m I going to, appreciating me on what I have done for them previously..One of the eg is as below:

Hi Candice
>
> Thanks so much for your support given, especially recently for the
> recruitment of temps.
> Well, all the best to you in your future undertakings.
> It has been nice meeting you!
It all touches me...

Sometimes human beings juz puzzled me...they can frustrate u, they can make u happy or sad...They are juz amazing..Dealing with humans are really a great study topic that we have to learn all our life...

Moving from here, to the great world outside, I m wary. I am unsure of how much more things I have to learn, wat kind of people will I need to handle, and how ppl will view my contribution to the company. I hope despite the good $, I can learn to adapt to the new stressful environment so that I can continue to grow with them, and to earn more $$ ? haha... I hope I will still meet nice ppl like those I have met durin my stay at P-Serv.

All the Best to those who are still there, who are moving on and whom have moved on...

Remember the good old times and keep in touch k?
