Today we met up with our Interior Designer to choose floor and wall tiles at Soon Bee Huat which is located at Toh Guan Road. Its a big showroom with lotsa lotsa choices of tiles!! We are able to make our choices for the Living Room and Kitchen Tiles, but had difficulty in finding the right match for our Master Bathroom floor and wall tiles! All because of our toilet bowl being in GREY color that we are unable to choose the Natural Brown series to give that SPA look..So in the end, we have to choose grey series. It isnt that bad for dark Grey series for the floor tiles, but had difficulty in matching with the wall tiles which has to be light Grey series.
Expected Date of Start Work: 29th April (Sat) as its an auspiscious day to 动土.
Current Processes:
1) To get Renovation Loan from either RHB Bank or NTUC Thrift.
2) To get prices for Air Cons as we are meeting the Electrician on 29th too.
We then had dinner @ Kyo-Nichin Ramen Restaurant which serves fabulous Ramen! Dear even said something that is unexpected & touching *Censored* Luckily the restaurant is quite empty except for us and the waiters/ waitresses. Haha.. I'll always remember his sweet words..

Hey Mae, dun fret! I m sure 1 day ur Prince will come n give u the palace of ur desire! Hee...Now I am facing problems of my MIL VERY AGAINST us overlaying our Bathroom wall and floor tiles. Sigh..Very vexed!! Any advice or solutions, anyone out there?!? : (

oh yes....forgotten to ask, if u have any intention to hack off ur bathroom tiles? If im not wrong, HDB term is...u r not suppose to hack for the first 3 or some donkey years or u can overlay FLOOR tiles (tat means new tiles on top of existing tiles only... due to waterproofing) If any leakage in the next few years, u will bear all charges since u violate it. U better check it out yar. Watever job to contractors is always "NO PROB" as these pple are always after $$ only and dun advise you any inconvenience u will encounter in future. So I suggest dun do anything to your "DONE UP Bathroom" if not ur warranty will be void. Let mi know if u need any other help la, at least I can check wif other good advisors.

Our flat has been built for more than 3 years so we are well-awared of that hacking issue that you are talking about. Now we can choose between hacking vs overlaying the tiles. Well, I don't think I can bear hearing my MIL nagging for donkey years if we go against her wishes thou. Sigh...
ReplyDeletehey girl! i also went to soon bee huat! but din get my tiles there. i am a really really fussy person. went at least on 4 seperate ocassions to choose the tiles. finally settled on ceremics, even though everyone is using homogenous. but saw the while tiles being done up today. quite happy with the results!
ReplyDeletei think for bathroom, better dun overlay. it's better to hack. cos it involves waterproofing or smth like that. check with your contractor ya!
Hi Mel! Well, we have also decided to spend more $$ to hack rather than overlay cuz of the following reasons:
ReplyDelete1) To prevent my MIL from continuous N*gg**g.
2) To prevent the unforseen leaking or popping up problems in the future.
3) To buy a mind of ease..
