- 23rd Nov 08: My period has been overdue for 3 days. We've waited impatiently for 3 days before we decide to buy the very 1st pregnancy test kit. My period cycle is normally punctual, if not won't be late for few days one. So, our hunch is - go & test it!
My 1st pregnancy test kit is from Guardian. Not knowing whether we will receive positive or negative result, we bought a cheapo one. If its negative, at least we din waste too much money on it mah. Hee.. Anyway after testing, silly Dear thought there's no positive results as he didn't read the instructions carefully. The instructions say that even there's a faint line that appears, we can assume that I am pregnant and consult the doctor to confirm. We were initially disappointed when Dear disregarded the results till I ask him to look at the kit again! There's when he remembered that there were no lines before testing... We were slightly thrilled but I still havn't got the idea into my head at that time.. We proceeded to have our own steamboat dinner, minus the prawns for me.sianz
But so long its for the bb's good, I can sacrifice that.- 24 Nov 08: Wanting to convince ourselves of the results, we decided to buy a 2nd one (more expensive one) on next day to test again. This time we bought Clearblue pregnancy test kit, whereby it will show "+" if its positive results, "-" if its negative. Should be less misleading than the 1st type of test kit right?
After seeing the "+" sign, we were even more confirmed on the results. Yeh! We are finally becoming Dadddy & Mummy!!! As this is the 1st trimester, we've decided not to tell anyone yet, until the baby is more stable. But inside us, we kept wanting so much to share with people around us - our family, friends and colleagues. Or at least, I have to wait till I see the gynae (scheduled on 9th Dec) to confirmx2 the pregnancy before I can tell our families...As we couldn't wait till then, we've decided to see a GP tomorrow to confirm first and prescribe some essential vitamins for me to eat before I got to see the gynae. As for now, we just bought EnfaMama to drink cuz I think the baby needs more nutrients now at this critical stage.
I do not have the serious versions of the morning sickness, however do have the afternoon sickness symptoms instead. Kept feeling nauseous, no appetite, fast mood change, tiredness for no reasons or another. Dear has been very sweet to me, keeping me away from carrying heavy things, doing household chores, and refraining me from eating food that is not suitable for me. He also talks to the baby almost every night. Even when I carried Dyan, Dear was worried that the baby will be jealous and upset, quickly soothes my tummy and talked to baby that Daddy loves him/her, ask him/her don't be upset. Hee...
During the first few weeks of the pregnancy, some people around me seem to have gotten some 6th sense of my pregnancy. E.g. Yan who suddenly called me one day, telling me she dreamt of me telling her I am pregnant. She just kept sayin she has strong feeling that I kena this time.. but I can't tell her yet thou it was true. *Sorry* Also, my niece Dawn suddenly held my hands, talked to me on something then saying Er-shen (me la!) got baby. My ears pricked up and was shocked that why she suddenly said something like that! People always say that children are sensitive towards unborn babies and I am starting to believe the myth! Haha
We are definitely looking forward to sharing this piece of good news with everyone who cares and loves us.
