The new maid is here

We've hired a Filipino maid for my in-laws as will be putting the baby in their care after I return to work, and she'd arrived yesterday.

I never had a maid in my life so very not used to having a "stranger" in the house. I am also not used to teaching someone household chores (cuz normally its hubbie who is teaching me..heehee), supervising someone to do tasks. I am also not used to someone calling me "Mum, Mum, Mum"..haha.. I am a lazy person and is kinda glad that I do not need to do so much household chores now, but keep reminding myself whatever I can do myself, I try to do cuz if not I will become too dependent on her help and become lazier in the future when we send her to stay at my in-law's place.

Well, first impression of the maid is pretty ok - she is quite initiative, will observe how we do things then try to do herself, standard of English still not bad (at least both sides understand each other), knows how to use electrical appliances (apparently she used to work in Singapore for 2 years few years back), can cook. Basically she can do the household chores without us telling her to. Juz hoping she will not give us any problem when the real self surfaces..

  1. Filipino maids should not have problems with communication.
Most importantly, she must know how to take good care of the baby when required.

  2. Lucky you. The first one I got from Indonesia has stones in her kidney and my mum sent her back. Now the new Filipino maid is still ok, but does not really have initiative. Most importantly, she must love the baby. So far, she seems to be quite caring to him.
