Today I tried the Annalakshmi Vegetarian Meal at Lau Pa Sat.
Their motto is: " Eat what you like. Give as you feel. We believe in you and trust you."
A very interesting feature is that normally customers will ask the stall owner "How much is it?" But in this case whereby you price your own food, in turn, you will be asked by the stall ower "How much is it?"
If you do not have small change, you may still give a bigger note - e.g. $10 note, then you will tell them how much do you think the food is worth. e.g. $4. and they will return you the change. Well, I feel kinda awkward doing this for the 1st time, and not knowing what is the "market" price for the same kind of food elsewhere. I look around at the other customers, and somehow feel that I "underpay" them... hee... so paisheh... Ok now I will know roughly how much other people will pay them, and I shall do the same next time :P
Did u see my blog about it? There is one in Perth! Hee..
