~Day 2 in Sydney: Featherdale Wildlife Park & Blue Mountains+the Three Sisters
We departed the city via Anzac Bridge, stopping over for morning tea at Featherdale Wildlife Park. At the wildlife park, finally we can get to see more animals roaming freely outside their cages, and for us to get closer to them.. of cuz, I am excited in getting close to the Koalas, Wallabies lah.. my favourite animals...At last I can take a close-up picture with the Koala while it was eating on the tree. (Purposely put there for visitors to take picture one) Wallabies are either lying around on the ground suntanning or jumpin around from one place to another..We even saw a baby wallaby in the arms of the wildlife park keeper. So cute and fragile...
Next we went up to the Blue Mountains - Why are they called "Blue" Mountains? Its becuz the ever present haze is caused by rays of light striking droplets of oil dispersed by gum trees. Amazing right? We went to the Scenic World to view the Blue Mountains and the Three Sisters in 4 ways - The Scenic Railway, The Scenic Walkway, The Scenic Cableway and The Scenic Skyway. The Railway is the steepest railway in the world, and it really scare us when we saw it! Luckily the speed that it was traveling was very slow, such that it isn't life-threatening. But on one side is without door or barrier, and Dear kept askin me to sit inside abit! There was no safety handles, so we just hold on to whatever we could..haha... The journey ended quite fast. Then the railway would also go backwards to the original place. After the Scenic Railway ride, we went via the Scenic Walkway which was about 10 mins walk, to the Cableway Bottom Station. If we want, we could take the Scenic 30 or 50 mins walk, which we would never want.. haha... Then we took our 2nd ride on the Scenic Cableway where we could see the Blue Mountains better..Other than that, we also got to see the Three Sisters faraway...Then lastly we took the Scenic Skyway to go another round to see the scenery surrounding us, with the vast nature all under our feet as we walked up on a glass platform...
From the tour guide, we learnt about the story behind the Three Sisters. There are actually many legends and stories about the Three Sisters, but he told us what he knew. Many many many years ago, there were these 3 sisters from a particular tribe, and there were these 3 men from another tribe who fell in love with them and wanted to marry them. But, the tribe's rule says no and a war was started as the matter became bigger and bigger. During the war, the father of the sisters, who was also a witch doctor, used black magic to turn them into rocks, hoping to stop the war. He could also use magic to turn them back, but unfortunately, he was killed in the war and so, the poor 3 sisters remained as rocks.. till now...
Quite an amazing legend hor?
