My first Birthday spent abroad

Feelin kinda tired after packing late on the night before. Received a few friends' well-wishes over sms once passed midnight. *Touched* So before departure, I desperately need some traditional kopi from Kopitiam to perk me up.

Departure was prompt and smooth. My first time feeling unusually calm about the plane taking off. Was even eagerly looking outside the window to witness the whole process when taking off. Hee.. 

Although the location of the boutique hotel - Unico Grande Sathorn is not along the main road, and we have to turn few roads before finding it cuz we weren't sure since its our first time staying at this hotel, I'd a pleasant feeling when we finally found it. The guest lobby area and the corridor along the rooms are very nicely thou simply decorated. Overall the feel it gives me is very comfortable. When I entered the room, I was delighted to see the room decorated in harmonized earthly tones and the fine furniture created a peaceful yet stylish ambiance. What was waiting for me in the room gave me a even bigger and pleasant surprise -

"Oh my god!" I was covering my (big) wide-open mouth with both hands when I saw this beautiful heart shaped rose petals and the 2 hand-made swans on the bed. Thought its my sweet hubby who planned this surprise on my birthday prior to our arrival. He then sheepishly confessed that he merely indicated that this is our honeymoon trip, so he didn't know that the hotel staff will arrange all these...  Silly guy. Duno how to earn more credits for himself by not telling the truth. haha.. Anyway, I love it! This should make up for the bad experience we'd with the Samran Place from the last BKK trip. As I totally disliked everything about Samran Place when we first stepped into the place and into the room, I sat on the side of the bed and cried... I was utterly disappointed with that place. Nothing comparable to Unico. Now its the opposite. I was so happy and satisfied with everything! Paying more money is definitely worth it..

We'd a few more hours before our dinner date, so we quickly popped by MBK for some 'quick' shopping. In the end, the 'quick' shopping wasn't that 'quick' afterall cuz we were running abit late when we rushed back to the hotel for a change of clothes and freshening up. Initially we wanted to take a Tuk-Tuk to the dining place, thinking that we were quite near but luckily we didn't...  Reason-being, the place is very ATAS!

We'd made a dinner appointment at The Dome @ State Tower - Sirocco, an exquisite dining place located on 63rd floor of the luxurious hotel building. So can you imagine us alighting from a Tuk-Tuk going to such high-class place to dine? haha... We were escorted to the 63rd floor and what welcomed us was a magnificent and breathtaking view that captivated us! Wow! The whole city of Bangkok is just under your feet!

Of cuz' with such a ATAS place and such a nice scenery view, you have to pay for the price. Looking at the menu, their main courses cost on average THB1,000 (ard SGD 40+) and above, and their set meal costs about THB 3,100 - THB 3,500, excluding taxes. Well, since its my treat for Dear, I have to be "generous" la. Expensive also muz treat. haha.. Other than ordering the main courses, we also ordered the Sirocco dessert buffet. Being in a ATAS place, we were served with Evian water and not the usual iced plain water. Feel abit uneasy leh.

As I did not have any birthday cake yet, Dear took a piece of dessert as my birthday cake and used his lighter as temporary candle. He sang me a birthday song, I made my wish(es) and blew the "candle". Then in between the main course and the dessert, we went to the drinking bar area to enjoy the scenery night view.

Overall, the unique dining experience with such a lovely view, was great and memorable. It was a pleasant 26th birthday celebration spent with my dearest one.
