14 February 2008 Valentine's Day

Similar to mybusride's views, personally I also find V-day being too commercialised and it has gradually becoming not "our thing" especially after we got married. If you take a look around you on that day - bouquets of flowers sending up the reception counters in my office, young girls and boys dressing up nice nice holding GIGANTIC (I know too exaggerating la..haha) bears, balloons, cute little bouquet of flowers/ with roche/ with little bears among the roses blah blah blah... These are all "youngsters" way of celebrating V-day.. To us, we have already passed that stage.

Wanted to go gym that day cuz wasn't intended to celebrate and we didn't even prepare any gifts for each other (no need at all mah!). But Dear wanted to meet me.. Instead of going gym, I decided to meet him and decided to go for a movie - Jumper. What's our dinner? Gobbling Subway 6-inches (mine) and foot long sandwich (HIM!) in the midst of darkness, in the cinema! Wahaha! How "Romantic" huh? In the end, we got all messy trying to figure out whether we are eating the bread or the paper wrapping..haha.. But we are so open and comfortable with each other that we never felt uneasy doing all those silly and ugly stuffs..

After that day, I realised what is the true meaning of V-day.. Its not getting all the fancy pressies, dressing up for the occasion or having expensive romantic dinners. The true meaning of V-day is about being together with your loved one. I have made a mistake thinking that he does not need my companion despite that we do not want to celebrate. So long if we spend time being together with each other, it makes the day feeling loved... The next V-day, I will make an effort to be together with him, and make him feel loved!

Happy Valentine's - cum - Friendship Day
