Our 4th Wedding-versary

20 Jan 2010 is our 4th Wedding-versary & also our 8th Pator-versary. Initially we planned to go for a short Bintan trip with Kayla, but it din materialise as Kayla jux recovered from illness; I am terribly busy at work especially with the auditors here for these 2 weeks. So ended up we have to stay in SG.

Despite the plan being foiled, we still make efforts to go for our own date on that special day of ours! Took half day off from work and went to catch a very belated show - Avatar! It was a very nice show, definitely exceeding my expectations of the show. Enjoying every minute of the show, so much so that I can't bear to leave my seat to clear my full bladder

After the show we proceeded to our Weddin-versary dinner @ Ikoi Japanese Restaurant - one of our favourites for Jap buffet. Spent the time talking to each other, bonding with each other as husband & wife as we may not have the time & heart to do so when caught up with the busy demands of life.

It feels really good to be able to enjoy such couple loving moments every now and then..

His gift for me: Thomas Sabo's charmlet with a heart charm (representing his love), and a baby pram charm (representing the baby in our life)

My gift for Him: A "Because I Love You" coupon - can be redeemed at any time!

Our Secret Date

Sssh... It's our secret date...

We were on leave on last Friday, without informing my in-laws - Kayla's caregiver during the weekdays cuz we planned to go on a Secret Date! A date that belongs to juz both of us!

Started with Yakiniku Lunch buffet @ Daidomon - quite difficult to eat with peace if Kayla is around..sorry girl, have to leave you behind for this! We've always wanted to try this so decided to have it when she's not around.

Next we rushed to Plaza Sing for a movie date - 2012. A very touching movie on the end of the world... It's especially touching after we became parents to Kayla and the scenes of the separation of parents and children makes my heart break. My tears kept flowing.. During the show, I kept missing Kayla and wished the secret date could end soon so that we can go and pick her up asap!

Despite missing Kayla loads, I still enjoy my private time with dearie... It makes long missed lovey dovey husband-and-wife feelings to return and makes us closer again.

I think I will want another secret date with dearie again! hee.. *Sorry Kayla!*

Baby Kayla is 1 month old!

Congrats to myself that I have finally endured 1 full month of confinement and I finally can be "released" today! Wahaha...

Following the end of my confinement is that, Baby Kayla is 1 month old! I agree that despite the past 1 month hasn't been easy for me and hubby, time flies!

I am loving Baby Kayla more and more each day, finding her multiple facial expressions, her different types of cries representing different needs, the look in her innocent eyes, and even when she 'gek sai' are all so funny and interesting! Maybe the bonding between us is finally setting in...

Today is the 1st time I breastfeed Baby Kayla in public (in a restaurant), and not in a nursing room. Initially I was quite worried that I may not be able to handle as it may be awkward for me. Surprisingly I managed to cover ourselves quite discreetly and I can even eat while I feed her in comfort! Cool! With more practice, I am sure I will get more familiar with such feeding antics.

For the past weeks, I have learnt how to push myself beyond the usual limits, to strengthen my mental determination despite the physical tiredness, to pick myself up after having a good cry, and being more patient. All these are because of the love I have for Baby Kayla and my husband..

Some photo updates of Baby Kayla:

Her favourite pasttime - biting her fingers

Her little finger..holding Papa's finger tightly..

Her tiny little feet, saying Hi!

In my daughter's eyes

(The song)

In my daughter's eyes I am a hero
I am strong and wise and I know no fear
But the truth is plain to see
She was sent to rescue me
I see who I wanna be
In my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes everyone is equal
Darkness turns to light and the
world is at peace
This miracle God gave to me gives me
strength when I am weak
I find reason to believe
In my daughter's eyes

And when she wraps her hand
around my finger
Oh it puts a smile in my heart
Everything becomes a little clearer
I realize what life is all about

It's hangin' on when your heart
has had enough
It's giving more when you feel like giving up
I've seen the light
It's in my daughter's eyes

In my daughter's eyes I can see the future
A reflection of who I am and what will be
Though she'll grow and someday leave
Maybe raise a family
When I'm gone I hope you see how happy
she made me
For I'll be there
In my daughter's eyes

Mummy Yammie's 27th Birthday

What is it about Birthdays, when you grow older every year?

It's not so much about Birthday Cakes, blowing Birthday Candles, singing of Birthday Song, (still must make Birthday Wish la! Very important!) but more of friends/ex-colleagues remembering your Birthday and sending you their heartfelt wishes, regardless early or late...

Like this...

or like this...

or like this...

or like this...

or like this...

~Well-wishes from my in-laws.~

Hubbie is very jealous & bu shuang cuz they forgotten about his birthday this year for DAYS, while they remember mine on the exact day! haha... I even got an extra pressie, other than the birthday ang pow...

Or like this...

~Birthday Card & scrapbook accessories from my Ah Neo Neo!~

Most importantly...Having my hubbie to celebrate my birthday with surprise & programmes...

~Flowers-in-a-watering-can + giraffe plush received in office on 2nd July 09.~

Totally unexpected of this birthday gift for this year...Always thought it might be a Precious Moments figurine (Family with new born baby figurine). But of cuz I am still happy to receive this surprise from hubbie, touched by his words on the card.

I like to tell hubbie is that, being pregnant with our beloved baby girl, all hardship is worth it. Thank you for taking up all the housework responsibility for the past few months, and also the new additional responsibility as Father in the upcoming future...

Programmes planned by Hubbie on 3 July 09:

~English Afternoon Tea Buffet @ Goodwood Park Hotel~

Having Fun with the Choc' Fondue

A Birthday Surprise arranged by Hubbie that caught me off-guard, and moved with tears...
I got a bit over-emo when the waitress brought over the cake with the candle on it, saying that this is arranged by my husband, with the Birthday Song played by the pianist in the background....

Suddenly I teared...moved with tears... the same scenario when he proposed to me with his knees down on the floor 4 years ago, also on my birthday.

He is the wonderful Man in my life... I am very fortunate to have met him, fallen in love with him, married to him and now, having his (our) first baby...

Hubbie Reservist Days

Tis is my first time experiencing my hubbie being away for Reservist. Never in my previous BGRs do I ever had to experience my ex(s) to be enlisted. So I always considered myself "lucky" that I do not have to go thru those "separated" days/weeks/months.

Tis year, at tis point of time, is hubbie's first time having to go for reservist and also my first time having to experience how it feels for hubbie to be away from me - uncontactable for the whole day. I should still say I am "lucky" that he doesn't need to go for field camp, and can book out from camp, if not I will definitely miss him lots lots lots more...

Am still adjusting to his Reservist Days - today being Day 2 only.. hmmm... I have to learn to be more independent w/o him readily available around. But can't deny that I miss him a lot...

Tmr is Day 3.. wonder what time he can book out or whether he can book out or not..

More Maternity Clothes Shopping!

Yesterday Papa Yam and Mama Yam went to get a pair of maternity jeans from Stylish Mum2be Maternity as I can't fit into my usual jeans anymore, with the bulging tummy! At the same time, also added 2 more tops to the shopping cart! Haha..

After the home-shopping, we went to Vivo, hoping to find a nice maternity dress for upcoming wedding events. That's also my requested V-day gift from Papa Yam. Tried one of those batik prints and tight-fitting knee length dress, I find it really 'chio' with my bump in front! At least now I dun feel fat with my previous small flabby tummy... A pity its kinda short, and I predict with the growing bump, I can't wear that dress for long.. Furthermore, clever Papa Yam who knows me so well, also think that I won't wear after giving birth, cuz then my flabby tummy will be protuding.. Ya I agree no more. So didn't buy it thou I quite like it at that moment.. Well, Papa Yam also praised me that I look pretty in that tight-fitting dress, and with my bump showing. He likes the way I look when I am pregnant.. *blush* I felt the butterrflies in my heart.. my eyes teared a little.. *Heart filled with lotsa LOVE*.
Occasionally Papa Yam will also kiss and sayang my bump at shopping centre! hee.. That is very sweet... hope no one familiar caught it! hee..

So off to more searching... somehow I can't find Egg Maternity thou I kept walking around the mall, even after checking the directory, then I realise I saw the wrong unit no. and went to Espirit instead! ARGH! At that time, we are 5 mins away to the closing of the Information Counter (to redeem the carpark points with our receipts) so we gave up the idea of searching. Furthermore Mama Yam is tired liao, after all the walking...

Next on our shopping agenda will be the baby's stuffs. Upcoming will be the Mother and Baby Fair on 27 Feb - 1 Mar 09. Took 1 day leave to go jalan jalan and hope it won't be crowded and stuffy!

A Valentine's Date with Benjamin Button

Not I, but WE, had a Valentine's Date with Benjamin Button yesterday...

Movie review of Benjamin Button

Indeed.. This 3 hour long movie is truly intriguing and fascinating.. Both the storyline, and how Brad Pitt's face can be shown on such a small frame when he was young (but look old). After discussion, we come to the conclusion that it could be computer graphics? The movie, thou abit lengthy, it shows many details on the "growing" of Benjamin and won't skip stages for the sake of cutting short the film. I guess it's fate and God's decision for him to be abandoned at the elderly home whereby the people around him all look old and wrinkled like him. So it becomes the world, the family who can accept him for how he looks

There are touching moments when Brad's childhood sweetheart-who-later-become-his-lover-and-stay in partner, Cate Blanchett, was suddenly in labour and eventually gave birth to a sweet normal-looking baby girl..  I was extremely touched and teared uncontrollably at the scene, probably because of my current pregnancy status.. I feel for the whole child-birth process and the joy when the baby is born.

There are also humor in the movie whereby one of the old folks at the elderly home kept telling Brad that he was struck by lightning 7 times..Every time he started saying the same old statement, the whole cinema audience will laugh. Especially there will be a comic-version of depicting how he got struck by lightning in respective times. Dear counted and said the movie only show 6, but not 7 times of the striking by lightning scenes.

I also like the way when Brad narrates that if things from the past happen a sec or a minute later, of if certain things did not happen in a certain way, it will not lead to the ultimate happening.. In general, it is saying all events from the past and present are connected, a sec or a decision can make a difference in the future happenings. Sound abit vague here, but you will know what I am referring to when you watch it!

Some pics of me (only) and the dinner at Imperial Treasure La Mian & Xiao Long Bao:

I feel that the quality time that both of us spent together on a date is more important than lavish gifts and huge bouquet of flowers. That is the way how the Yam's family will spend their V-Day from now onwards.. Next year will be spent together with Baby Yam!

Our 3rd ROM Anniversary Surprise Lunch

20 Jan 09: It's our 3rd ROM Anniversary this year.

Unfortunately we'd some misunderstanding and had a cold war the night before our anniversary.. So the mood is quite dampening. In addition, we've no plans made for our mini celebration. Dampening x 2.

My spirits was finally lifted when Dear asked me out for lunch @ Ember Restuarant (Hotel 1929). Didn't expect him to ask me out for lunch epecially after the dampening nite we had.. : ) I always told him one day I would like to bring him there for lunch since I went there with my colleagues before, and find the food quite nice...Well, now I guess he is the one who is bringing me there instead.

Prepared a special gift for him - For his first time to become Daddy. Although its a soft toy that he doesn't really like, I still hope he appreciates the thought of the gift.

The restaurant captain is also very sweet by putting a candle on our apple tart desert, in celebration of our anniversary.

This lunch surprise is of nice food, for a nice special day for us.

Partner in Life

I have to admit... that I have a very great Partner in Life.

He has walked through the times with me, looking through my past, and decided to hold my hands through till the future.

He has been very supportive when I was slightly depressed over a previous job few years ago, then now I see myself settling in a job that I enjoy doing!

He is supportive in all the household chores, and most of the daily stuffs.

He is trying to be supportive in answering all my "WHY???" and lame questions.

He is supportive of me meeting my friends and have my own social life (thou he grumbles abit here and there that I always 'abandon' him at home..hee)

I thank Heaven for giving me such a great blessing in my life. I thank his parents for giving birth to such a wonderful child, and to be my greatest partner in life. Lastly I thank Him for being so strong for me, for rendering all his heart and effort in making my life a better and more settled one...

Thank you....My Partner in Life....

P.S. I Love You

Yes I am abit slow.. This movie has been shown and down from the cinema ages ago.. Just becuz we missed it when it was shown in the cinema, we bought the DVD when in BKK (Only THB 80 each!) The quality of the DVD was good, thanks to the seller's recommendation.

Anyway, we snuggled on the hotel bed to watch this movie during our trip in BKK. This is the type of movie that would move me to tears easily, especially since I am such an emotional person. The male lead left several letters for his wife after he died from a brain tumor. Seeing that, Dear unexpectantly got emotional and asked me what should he leave behind for me should he leave me one day... I felt so so sad when he said that... I hugged him tightly and cried uncontrollably... I can't stand the thought of that... We really felt a lot watching this movie, probably because our hearts and lives are so entangled with each other.

A surprise from Dear - 'Together is the nicest place to be!'

Dear was busy at work and came home later than I. He walked in with a big Watson plastic bag. I asked him casually what is inside. He told me that its just a box in his office. I took it as it is (for that moment).

Then he took out the box and brought it to me....

I knew it! Its my gift!!!! I like the box.. hee... I opened it up...

Its so beautifully decorated with baby breath!! I love baby breath and he knows it! What's inside?

I read the card... It's an addition to our "couch-potato" series, as he said in the card. So touched... Especially the meaning of the gift - "Together is the nicest place to be" Oh.. how sweet...

I agree totally...

Being together is the nicest place it can be, no matter which part of the world we are in.

A precious gift received...

Today during lunch, my FIL called me and gave me a surprise - He has asked my beloved niece Dawn to the phone and wished me 'Happy Birthday!' I was so so happy having receiving the wishes from her. I got more "greedy" and requested for her to sing me a birthday song. She obliged without hesitation.

"Happy Birthday to You..
Happy Birthday to You..
Happy Birthday to Er Shen...
Happy Birthday to You.."

I was so touched when I listened on, tears welling up as I covered my mouth, trying so hard to control my tears...

This is one of the most precious gift I have ever received. Thanks to my in-laws for their indigenious idea.. Feel so loved...

Thank you 老公

Recently something happened to a close girlfriend of mine. From this matter, I've seen how concerned my hubby is, and how selfless he is, towards my friend (whom also become his friend over the years).

If, not for his selflessness, we would not have helped my friend and accompanied her along the way.
If, not for his insistence of tagging along, she might be left alone handling the unfamiliarities all by herself.

His actions and thoughts really touched me (and my friend).. I am even more confirmed that, I have found myself a good selfless husband, who is always so true to people around him. I am really fortunate that I have him as my pillar of support, and also able to extend a helping hand to my friends too. Without him, I feel so lost, weak and useless.

I was so so touched, that I teared a few times this afternoon, hugging him closely and telling him how much I love him...

I once dreamt of him dying, and I was very very sad and support-less. I was unable to do anything without him, cuz all the while, he was the one doing most of the things for me, or doing them together with me. Then 2 days later, he rose from the coffin, and came back to life. I was so so happy and relieved. That was when I knew, I cannot do without him...

I wan to say Thank You... Thank You for being with me in my life, and giving me such great support...

14 February 2008 Valentine's Day

Similar to mybusride's views, personally I also find V-day being too commercialised and it has gradually becoming not "our thing" especially after we got married. If you take a look around you on that day - bouquets of flowers sending up the reception counters in my office, young girls and boys dressing up nice nice holding GIGANTIC (I know too exaggerating la..haha) bears, balloons, cute little bouquet of flowers/ with roche/ with little bears among the roses blah blah blah... These are all "youngsters" way of celebrating V-day.. To us, we have already passed that stage.

Wanted to go gym that day cuz wasn't intended to celebrate and we didn't even prepare any gifts for each other (no need at all mah!). But Dear wanted to meet me.. Instead of going gym, I decided to meet him and decided to go for a movie - Jumper. What's our dinner? Gobbling Subway 6-inches (mine) and foot long sandwich (HIM!) in the midst of darkness, in the cinema! Wahaha! How "Romantic" huh? In the end, we got all messy trying to figure out whether we are eating the bread or the paper wrapping..haha.. But we are so open and comfortable with each other that we never felt uneasy doing all those silly and ugly stuffs..

After that day, I realised what is the true meaning of V-day.. Its not getting all the fancy pressies, dressing up for the occasion or having expensive romantic dinners. The true meaning of V-day is about being together with your loved one. I have made a mistake thinking that he does not need my companion despite that we do not want to celebrate. So long if we spend time being together with each other, it makes the day feeling loved... The next V-day, I will make an effort to be together with him, and make him feel loved!

Happy Valentine's - cum - Friendship Day
